Arthur Johnston is 100% correct in that much of the discussion of LSA is worthy deserving review and scrutiny by a broader constituency. Our Home Page and Blog site position us to do that. When ready, we will "register" our group with American Solutions plus "others" and link each registration back to our LSA site. But first, we must develop our "Voice"
The second premise is also correct - it is a modern way to communicate among ourselves. It complements and is a "public" extension to "private" emails. It is an adult version of "myspace" More importantly, we discussed with fascination the "long tail" and with our LSA site we are actually "living-it" It is the 4th, or VIRTUAL component, of LAND, SEA, AIR
"our voice" happens when we "All" master the tool. When we ALL "speak" like we do at breakfast. Remember when you conquered email? This is the next level. The secret is "click" absolutely "everything" and "discover" what or where it "lands" you. Eventually, you will get it right. Make a game out of it - the young do and that is why they are so successful at mastering. Last, you have to practice or you will forget how you did "what"- at least I do. Eventually you will master your "click" efficiency. With participation our Blog site look and feel will migrate and mature. Then we will be ready.
Here is the challenge. When your "IN" post a Comment on this BLOG. State the following. I'm IN...I can post a Blog, a Comment, plus a book, link, headline......or whatever you mastered within our Blog site - then your name. Don't let your Branch down! Don't make it necessary in 2008 to put the Navy in charge to insure participation. 2007 was their year.
Happy New Year to all! My best for your every success in 2008 Larry White

12-27 meeting
This is my first try. Bill Bennett this morning suggested these priorities: Winning the Islamic war, immigration and tax policy. What candidates most clearly address these priorities?
December 27th meeting
Once again Larry has assigned me the task of memorializing out Friday AM Meeting, this time for Friday December 27, 2007.
The most prominent substantive subject discussed this AM was the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Bhutto.
The general feeling around the table was that this was a good example of al queda shooting itself in the foot. If ever we are to alert the American public to the dangers of the Islamist fundamentalists., this event should do that. It was also generally felt that this event would strengthen the presidential candidacies of Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
Some felt that Pakistan President Musharraf would have to mount some kind of offensive against the al queda fighters in the northwestern mountains of Pakistan. Perhaps- - we will just have to wait and see about that.
The bulk of our session was devoted to Larry White explaining this web site to everyone and trying to coach us on how to get to it and how to create a blog and how to make a comment. Give us a day or two and we will see if his efforts bear fruit.

LSA 12-21-2007 Meeting Summary
Larry has assigned me the task of reporting on this morning's meeting, matters discussed and conclusions (?) reached, if any.
1. Sagest comment made was by General Bradford, when RADM Miller wondered why no one had responded to his latest blog. Said Gen Bradford, ""Isn't it terrible when you say something outrageous and are ignored?"
2. General Duquemin reported on his just concluded week in DC at a session sponsored by the Army for newly selected BG's, and others. Duke was invited, along with several other retired general officers, as observers. Discussed were the new army organizational structure, progress in Iraq (good progress being made) and the BRAC closure progress. Most prominent feature to me was the cost of about $30 billion(?) and 30 years to recoup. Does bring into question the wisdom of the move.
3. Major point of discussion was President George W. Bush's legacy. L. White felt Bush may not recover from choosing the wrong team- - Rumsfeld, in particular- - everyone agreed that Rumsfeld was a poor choice and was responsible for the regidity of the Iraq policy before Gen. Patraeous. Col Faulkender observed that Rumsfeld was responsible for adopting, and stubbornly adhering to, to an erroneous "Model." (Bob is ALWAYS the "model" man) Others felt that success in Iraq with concomitant success against militant Islam would leave Bush with a good legacy, perhaps even a historic one, if in fact such happens.
4. Major discussion of the new web site. Larry White will help us further learn how to use it in a presentation next week.
5. Final matter was Col. Sam Holliday's article on Irregular Warfare. There was general agreement that the US needs to be better organized to meet the threat of Irregular warfare- - defined by Sam, and accepted by all, as somewhere in the continuum between war and peace. No agreement, and just a modicum of discussion, on what organizational structure would work best. Sam advocates a new "Department of Stability," as something between Defense (war) and State(peace). RADM Miller suggested an enlarged National Security Council would be more appropriate.
Would welccome any comments on how the above is in error.

Education in the US
I am only doing this to see if I can!!!
At last Friday's meeting, I was surprised that we used almost the entire session to discuss the education system in the US, and I was even more surprised to hear that many of our group felt that our present system is a failure. It concerned me that some suggested that this was due to the fact that our system had too many participants who taught "outside of the box." By that I think it was meant that the system sanctioned, too readily, those who would attack the values which we as Americans should- - and most of us do- - cherish. My response to this was, "Well, didn't Copernicus attack the then prevalent system when he taught that the earth went around the sun, not the other way around?
I still feel that way. If our values aren't strong enough to take a little debate, then perhaps they are valid enough for us to embrace.
